The Andrej Marušič Institute (UP IAM) is the sole research institute of the University of Primorska. It was established in 1999 as an independent public research institute under the name Primorska Institute for Natural Sciences and Technology Koper (UP PINT). On November 10, 2011, UP PINT was renamed the Andrej Marušič Institute.
Since its inception, UP IAM has formed the foundation for the development of natural sciences and technology at UP. Since 2006, it has also collaborated closely with the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technologies (UP Famnit), together representing a strategically vital area for broader progress.
A distinguishing feature of the institute is its interdisciplinary research excellence. By bridging natural sciences, technology, social sciences, and the humanities, UP IAM transcends traditional and rigid divisions between the fundamental fields of human knowledge.
